And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
If you’ve spent much time reading and studying the New Testament, you know that Paul endured a “thorn in his side” which he often asked the Lord to remove. While there are theological debates over exactly what the thorn represented, most of us don’t fully understand, nor will we ever know this side of Heaven specifically what the apostle suffered in the flesh as it relates to his “thorn.”
I sometimes feel the sting of a thorn. Perhaps from an event or circumstance completely out of my control but nevertheless a bother. Or…maybe from my own self-centered-self. My sin. My shortcomings. And less than positive thoughts or actions.
Every moment of every day I simply need His promises. His unconditional love and unwavering faithfulness. Him.
What about you? Is there a thorn in your side that continues to poke, prod and sting? Won’t you come before Him, repent, accept His forgiveness and experience His grace? Whatever it is that you need, His grace is sufficient!
